Breaking Invincible Barriers 2
Posted by: Omotaylor on January 23, 2008 Under: Africa, Discussion Lounge, Faith & Spirituality, Life & Culture, United Kingdom
In part 1, we identified what invincible barriers are and mentioned the strongholds that place barriers in our physical and spiritual lives. I gave 3 examples of such and will give 3 more:
4. CURSES (+generational curses) e.g. Balaam and Balak – Numbers 22-23. 22:6 –
“Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.”
22:12 “
And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.”
23:8
“How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? And how shall I defy, whom Jehovah hath not defied?”
5. SEXUAL OPPRESSION: e.g. Solomon was a wise beloved King - 1Kings 3:1-5 but became a foolish rejected king in 1Kings 11:1-13. Why? V9:
“So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice”.
What turned Solomon’s heart from God we ask? V1:
“But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites”.
6. SPIRITUAL WARFARE: This is called Kingdom conflict. Ephesians 6:12:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”.
The enemy will use any style to attack, the devil will use people to do his evil works; dating back to when he was cast down to the earth – Revelations 12:9-10, 12:
“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, …for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down…Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
Above are examples of invincible barriers that we need to be delivered from. Their physical manifestations in our lives are many e.g. unhappiness, problems, sicknesses, emptiness, loneliness, death wish, etc. These strongholds are bold, unrelenting, vicious, just like the thief described by Jesus in John 10:10(a):
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy”.
GOOD NEWS MESSAGE (2008) – WE CAN BREAK INVINCIBLE BARRIERS AD THRIVE IN THE GLORY OF GOD.
John 10:10(b) –Jesus gives us this promise that
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.
Our Lord Jehovah commenced the work over 2,040 years ago when he sent us His only son, who on leaving us also gave us the Holy Spirit (John 3:16). By giving us His son (out of love), God automatically gave us all LIVING WATERS (John 4:14), GODLY MEAT (John 6:27), and BREAD OF HEAVEN (John 6:32-33). So we have enough food and drink to gain ETERNAL LIFE (John 6:39-40).
Invincible Barriers abound but God says we should fear them not (Matthew 10:26),
for all things hidden shall be revealed and made known; and we shall thereby know the Truth and the Truth will set us free of all these barriers (John 8:32).
STEPS FOR BREAKING INVINCIBLE BARRIERS
The world “Breaking” here simply put means deliverance. Now is the time to change our lives, shatter the monitoring telescopes, smash the barriers and rupture the evil monitoring spirits and their divinations and enchantments and pull down all strongholds. These 5 steps will assist us:
a. The handwork of the devil must be blotted out – Colossians 2:14-15:
“Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
A good way to start is looking unto the Lord and His strength and seeking His face always – 1Chronicles 16:11.
b. Constant Vigilance – We do not want to fall into temptation so we need to watch and pray at all times – Matt 26:41
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”.
We must beware the devil our enemy who is prowling around always looking for someone to devour: I Peter 5:8 –
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”.
c. Identify the enemy – This is important. If we don’t then we are open to attacks and barriers. Can you fight the unknown (not the unseen). When you have identified the enemy, resist Him/It – James 4:7
”
therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you”.
d. Study the Word and know how to use it – To overcome the devil Jesus in Matt 4:1-11 had to use His deep understanding of the scriptures to successfully resist the devil and overcome him. The devil can also quote the scriptures for their evil intent. – Matt 4:10 –11
“Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you] Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him”
e. Live a Godly life – James 4:8 –
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded”.
Remember that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds – 2 Corinthians 10:4. We can only overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimonies – Rev 12:11. The devil is our enemy, our accuser, and slanderer, who even tried it with Jesus Christ. So never underestimate the devil. Our great consolation is that the devil will never triumph over the children of the Kingdom of God.
If you know your enemy well, you will be better prepared to break all invincible barriers. A proactive approach to our faith is needed. Don’t be passive, don’t be a church Daraprim or benchwarmer. Spiritual discipline, constant prayers and submission to the Will of God, are all important ingredients to break invincible barriers. Become strong in the Lord, identify and recognise these barriers in your individual and church lives, adopt a new attitude, a greater focus and remember that our inheritance is in Christ only.
I implore all church worshippers, leader and members, shepherd and sheep, to put on the new man and love God. Don’t act the fool no more; don’t yoke yourselves with ungodly people, in or out of the church. Avoid the devourer so that you are not devoured. – Ephesians 4:23-29.
I leave you with the words of Paul in Galatians 5:1 –
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage”.
I pray the Lord God delivers us from all seen and unseen barriers so that in this year 2008 and after, we all thrive in the Glory of God (Amen)
TILL THE MASTER RETURNS I SAY SHALOM.
