Charlize Theron: From a Traumatic Childhood in Africa to One of Hollywood’s Finest

Charlize finds solace in acting; her therapy for a traumatic childhood.

If you have seen any of these movies: Aeon Flux, Monster, Italian Job or Devil’s Advocate; then you have seen her.

She is Charlize Theron, but few know she is African.

The 32 year old Charlize was born a South African. And even fewer knows of her traumatic past - giving watched her mother shot and killed her abusive father at age 15, in self defense, and how she found solace and therapy in Hollywood; an ironic twist given the seemingly destructive effect the movie-city itself.

“Theron has risen to the challenge of a variety of roles in a rather short period of time. This incredibly talented actress began her career as a model in her native South Africa. She worked extensively in fashion capitols such as Milan and Paris before coming to the U.S.”

Theron was named the sexiest woman alive by Esquire in their November 2007 issue.

This assertion is right on the money; She’s is quite a looker! Oh I forgot, Theron received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005, she also won the Best Actress Oscar for Monster in 2003.
