Nigeria: Jos Riot – Aftermath in Photo and Video

The riot was triggered by a rumor on November 28, 2008 that the majority-Muslim All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) had lost in a local election to the mainly Christian Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to media reports.

Some 360 bodies have been given a mass burial, the same day the Federal Government deployed more troops to the troubled area. Humanitarian efforts is stretched to the limit as relief agencies express concern over some 4,000 displaced persons at risk of starvation.

Wow!!! I am amazed that the death of 360 people caused by a rumor has not been cast on CNN, etc. That number of people is double the amount of lives lost in the craziness in Mumbai. I am vexed that people are still killing each other over politics and religion. Na wa for Naija.

This is really sad. Religious war again. I thought Jos was predominately Christians. I feel for the families that lost loved ones in this sillyness.

Inhumanity of man to man is always caused by inhumane, yes inhuman conditions and this is predominant in our present day Nigeria. Still very sad.

Still very sad and getting worse. Lack of leadership is the bane of Nigeria and we pray there will be no anarchy soon. May God really help Nigeria. No religion should preach or embrace hatred and disarray.
