I must say that this represents a culmination of the best of both worlds. I do have copy of the magazine and I am genuinely impressed by the body of work. The reasoning behind the concept is compelling. All I can add here is wish them continued success in this endeavor. The best is yet to come.

Thanks Misi. Generally when I choose to do an interview it is either because the product is different, one of the few of its kind or issues being tackled is a taboo or because a lot of people are talking about this person / product.

I chose to focus on these ‘issues’(honeymoon and databases (your words) because these are issues that I see as the focus of many Africans who are choosing to get married in the diaspora. Where do I get my traditional cloths made? Who will cater the food particularly if I want African dishes? Where do we go for our honeymoon? and I agree with Chike and Jackie, there seems to be no database for that kind of information. Of course, I could have focused on what makes this a typical bridal magazine but I thought these ‘issues’ made it sufficiently different to generate interest.

But beyond all that – this magazine showcases different weddings, wedding attires, wedding designers, it is like your bridal magazine but from a more African perspective. All the writers in the magazine are experts having worked in their area of expertise for many years. Beyond, all that for all the sappy romantics out there, this magazine also shows the wedding story, i.e, the story behind the wedding.

It comes highly recommended and it is very well done being one of the main reason that for a first issue they have a lot of advertisers. Businesses know that there is a market for a magazine such as this.

I will second caretaker and say, just get the magazine, it is about 200 glossy pages, well done and a delight to read and it is simply affordable (about 10 dollars).

Great interview, Pamela. Fab idea and congrats on your publication, Chike & Jackie. Who writes for them? And where will they get their content from? I would like to know more about the contents in the magazine beyond the database of businesses. Will they be featuring weddings in this magazine? What is the general focus beyond database & honeymoon? I would love to hear more from the couple.
