Playing to Win in Zimbabwe: a Sit-tight Tyrant vs. Olympic Medalist

It appears Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has played a fast one side-tracking Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), the main opposition party, by signing a power-sharing deal with the break-away MDC group headed by Arthur Mutambara.
If the deal holds, the coalition gives Mugabe a clear majority at the Parliament. Another win for his ZAPU-PF party. It is unclear how any arrangement that fails to take on board Morgan Tsvangirai’s group will work in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe at the Olympics
It is not all gloomy news from Zimbabwe, the nation leads the continent with its two silver medals won by Kirsty Coventry in the Women’s 100m Back and 400m Individual Medley. Kirsty also set a new world record of 58.77 in the semi-finals of the 100m backstroke.
Togo and Algeria each has a Bronze. Catch Africa at the Olympics, in multimedia, follow the link.
