Power of Prayer - 2

Your prayer life must be aflame for your prayers to be fervent and effectual. Did King David not declare in Psalm 42: 1-2 that:
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God”?
True Power Prayer will mold our soul into the image of God, and hence this will enlarge our Divine Grace and grant us our hearts desire. This is worth fighting for and so Jacob in Genesis 32: 24 -30 wrestled with the Angel until he was blessed. He did not let go even when the Angel prevailed. He held on until he got what he wanted.
“And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” So He said to him, “What is your name?”. He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel;[b] for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there. So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:[c] “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved”. May the good Lord preserve our lives and grant us according to our heart’s desires in Jesus name. Amen.
We must seize every opportunity to pray to God day and night, relentlessly:
Moses prayed 40 days and nights for the children of Israel, without ceasing.
Elijah repeated his prayer for rain 7 times for assured success, he was relentless.
Daniel even in fasting and very weak prayed 21 days for deliverance, and
Our Lord Jesus started and ended His life on earth in prayers and never stopped. Even right now he is still our Advocate &Mediator with the Father.
As Christians, we are bound to encounter problems and be frustrated. Many times even while praying without ceasing, the answer to our prayers would be delayed. If this happens, be assured that God knows why, and don’t give up. Press on, pray on and even if it tarries, wait for it, for your prayer will be answered in the long run. Hannah went continually to Shiloh and never gave up until she got the fruit of the womb that she had been petitioning God for, over and over again at Shiloh (1Samuel 1). Bartimeus the Blind screamed louder and clearer when Jesus seemed not to hear him and in spite of the people around him who tried to shut him up, until Jesus answered him and restored his sight (Mark 10). So ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK WITHOUT CEASING. Remember that the prayer if the consistent is effectual.
When you pray, pray with a Repentant and a Cleansed Heart for the prayer of the Righteous availeth much. Also our prayer is rendered more powerful by Obedience. He who must pray must obey (obedience to God and to the words of God). Also when you pray be Vigilant. The life of a Christian is full of warfare, and it is a battle. We must as Christians be ready to endure hardship like good soldiers of Christ “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood…”. We must take on the armour of God which is our powerful prayer so as to withstand the devil and conquer our adversaries. Apostle Paul, as a great prayer warrior was able to declare in 2Timothy 4:7 that “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. So why don’t we become Christian soldiers in prayer?
TROUBLED WATERS
The power of prayer is more visibly noticed when a Christian is in trouble. Trouble drives us to God in prayer, and then delivers us. Prayer strengthens, comforts, and preserves us when in trouble. Above all prayer teaches us Godly patience when troubled. There is no trouble that is beyond God’s control and no problem that is above God. Oh blessed is the man that knows how to turn to God in trouble.
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.
Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.By Joseph M Scriven – 1855.
Let us all join David in declaring our allegiance to the Lord and enjoy the promise granted David as recorded in Psalm 91: 14-16
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him.
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Amen.
The book of Issaiah 43: 2-3 declares that
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Saviour”… Amen.
A PRAYER POEM
Prayer grants us courage in all tribulations
Prayer gives us strength to overcome temptations
Prayer guides us through each passing day
Prayer lets our God make for us a way
Prayer sets us free from all our pains
Prayer enables us climb every mountain
Prayer makes us see the joy of life again
Prayer makes us our every wish attain
Prayer makes the sun shine at times of ill
Prayer flattens for us all our molehills.
So please hand your troubles to God your maker
And He will answer all your prayers.
(Omotaylor 2008).
GOD WILL SEE US THROUGH ALL TROUBLES (AMEN)
SO CHRISTIANS, ARISE AND GO TO GOD AND RECIEVE THROUGH THE POWER OF PRAYER. (AMEN).
Shalom
