Apart from planning to dole out free land for its members in the United States at its US Redemption Camp in Floyd, Texas, it is the plan of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) North America to establish a university in the US to be located at the US Camp in a few more decades.
This was disclosed by the most senior pastor of the RCCG in the US, Pastor James Oladipo Fadele in an interview he granted in commemoration of his 50th birthday anniversary on April 5, 2008.
Asked what his plans and hopes for the next three decades are he said “I will continue to give my best to God. I prayerfully hope that the Camp projects would have been completed which includes, by His grace, a first class university that rivals Harvard, Yale or MIT.”
The RCCG in North America has been known for breaking new grounds among Nigerian and African churches in the US. For instance few years ago the church in the US announced plans to give free land to members of the church in the US at the US camp as it is done also in the Nigerian camp. Plans for that are said to be in progress.
The RCCG started in Nigeria and is headed by the General Overseer Pastor E.A Adeboye.

Men and women of the Almighty Lord:
If America needed another varsity, Oprah Winfrey would have seriously considered building one here before what she did in South Africa. There are some African countries that have no more than 2 universities, and those are the countries that need new Colleges to accomodate their education needs. Take your noble idea to these nations. Any thing you are building here could wind up being a white elephant. Reason? Just because people in your church have loyalty with your church doesn’t mean that the same loyalty will transfer to College attendance in a United States with far more Colleges than population needed for optimum attendance. If you don’t believe me, you guys have a lot to learn. If you are copying Oral Roberts or Liberty Univ, the days those were estabished are different from what obtains today, and if they were to be built these days of internet varsity options, in all liklihood they will be flops!
You should keep in mind that God is also in other Colleges as you undoubtedly expect him to be in yours, and there is no amount of financial aid you can offer which cannot be matched or easily surpassed by existing institutions. So, take your initiative elsewhere and wisely.
God bless.
