The more I saw footages of the ongoing protests in Iran, the more the memories of June 12 1993 and its aftermath flood my mind. The parallels between the characters and events in 1993 Nigeria and 2009 Iran go beyond the date coincidence or oil reliance.
Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika has been re-elected for a second term. The Electoral Commission announced the result today. Mutharika, a former World Bank official, received about 2.6 million votes while his opponent John Tembo received 1.2 million. The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Ekiti State is the latest Pawn on the Nigerian Chessboard. Ayoka Adebayo like all other Pawns on the Chess board has had to suffer the normal treatment melted on Pawns on the Nigerian Chessboard. And like any Pawn that decides to start with a double step has met with the expected onslaught and has had to succumb by taking flight.
