To start the African Loft journey I thought I’d start by showcasing some of the people and projects encountered at TED Global 2007. First off is Jose from Zip Zap Social Circus School, one of the performers at TED Global 2007.

As you can see, he was just as blown away by the passion of the attendees, speakers and TED Fellows as most of us who were at the conference in Arusha still are.

The ZipZap circus school, based in Cape Town is a unique organization in South Africa that utilizes the challenging medium of circus arts training and performance for the purpose of educational outreach and youth development of South African Children. The school also comprises a corporate aspect whereby we provide skilled riggers and stunt performers for business and the film industry.

The school is the result of a dream by its founders Brent van Rensburg and Laurence Esteve, who dared to take their passion for circus and share it with those who would not have otherwise had the chance. Brent and Laurence comprise the full-time staff at Zip Zap
