Woven nylon chairs made in the African nation of Togo have been featured in the French magazines Elle, Cote Sud, Atmosphères, Le Journal de La Maison and Printemps as well as the French editions of Vogue and Architectural Digest.
The chairs are being imported in to he United States by Iman Deco, a company run by Hung Ho-dinh, a French Vietnamese. Ho said his brother discovered the chairs about 10 years ago on one of his many African vacations in a market in Togo and set about developing a group of artisans to make them.
The full line, made in innumerable combinations of colors from polypropylene, now includes children’s seats, a stool, a sofa, three small tables, bags, carpets and round containers.
